April M. Watson is Senior Curator, Photography at The Nelson-Atkins of Art in Kansas City, MO. During her fourteen year-tenure at the Nelson-Atkins, she has curated numerous exhibitions from the museum’s renowned Hallmark Photographic Collection and organized several major loan exhibitions.
Recent projects include the forthcoming Signs: Photographs by Jim Dow; Art of Illusion: Photography and Perceptual Play; Gordon Parks X Muhammad Ali: The Image of Champion, 1966/1970 (organized with the Gordon Parks Foundation); L.A. Landscapes: Photographs by Anthony Hernandez; and Eugene Richards: The Run-On of Time (a retrospective co-organized with the George Eastman Museum). She is currently working on an exhibition of work by Evelyn Hofer, co-organized with the High Museum of Art.
Watson has also contributed essays to artist’s monographs, featuring the work of Jocelyn Lee, Bjorn Sterri, and Joni Sternbach, among others.
