Winter Salon in Saffron

Image by Shirley Harryman | Floating Over MO

Cerbera Gallery, 2011 Baltimore, KCMO 64108

A gallery of minds, so bright and vast,
Each conversation a spell, cast,
As snowflakes trace their secret flight,
Outside the window, soft and white.

Here, in the warmth of saffron’s glow,
We shed our layers, let go, and know,
That winter’s chill, though cold it may be,
Holds the fire of what we wish to see.

So let the night stretch, unhurried, long,
In this winter salon, where hearts belong,
Where saffron dreams and stories weave,
A tapestry of hope we’ll never leave.

Morgan Ford Willingham: Notions and Impressions

Artists Reception, Saturday, October 29, 5–7 pm

Examining and reflecting upon the mother-child relationship, from the attempts to raise a child and to shape what their future holds, to the ways in which the child forges their own path, these domestic portraits of my daughter and me attest to the selfhood, uncertainty, and parallels that are threaded between us. The images independently and collectively signify the intimate daily circumstances, and the historical and cultural influences that shape us both as individuals and as a familial unit.

Jeff Burk | White Light: New York City: 1980-1982

"In the 1970s and early 1980s, New York City was completely different from the mostly clean and safe environment of today. Crime, drugs, and graffiti were prevalent. Times Square was more tawdry than tourist friendly and some areas were simply dangerous. Rents were cheap and it was a perfect time for young artists to move in.”

Several of the artists who are in Current Works will briefly discuss their piece in the show and tell us more about themselves and possibly their art practice. All exhibiting artists are invited to speak. After everyone talks there will be a Q&A. So, make note of any questions you may have during the talks.

We hope you will join us. We will try to zoom if possible but no guarantees.
